Market research in Uzbekistan
We are a Tashkent agency that has been doing marketing and fieldwork in this country since 2017. If you are weighing market entry or need hard data on Uzbek consumers, we run the study on the ground, in Uzbek and Russian, and hand you a report in English.
Projects start at
$4,100
What we run for you
Market entry studies
Market size, competitors, price levels, distribution channels and a clear picture of who actually buys. Built around the go or no-go decision you need to make.
Consumer surveys
Phone, face-to-face and online interviews in Uzbek and Russian, in Tashkent or across all regions, with samples built on official statistics.
Focus groups and in-depth interviews
Moderated by native speakers. You get video, English transcripts and a summary of what people said and what they meant.
Mystery shopping and retail audits
Shelf, price and service checks in supermarket chains, pharmacies, small shops and bazaars, with photos and audio from every visit.
B2B and distributor interviews
Conversations with importers, wholesalers and chain buyers: margins, payment terms and what it takes to get listed.
Social and media monitoring
What people say about your category and competitors in Telegram channels, Instagram and local media, in both languages.
What outside teams tend to miss here
Most desk research on Uzbekistan is written from Moscow, Almaty or Dubai. These are the things we see foreign clients correct only after the first study.
Telegram, not Google, is where the country talks
News, reviews, job ads, shop catalogues and complaints all live in Telegram channels and group chats. A study that skips Telegram misses most of the conversation about your category.
Two languages, two scripts
Uzbek is written in both Latin and Cyrillic, and Russian is still the working language of business in Tashkent. A questionnaire in one language only quietly skews your sample.
Tashkent is not the whole country
Fewer than one in ten people live in the capital. Incomes, shopping habits and brand awareness shift sharply in Samarkand, the Fergana Valley or Karakalpakstan, so national numbers need regional fieldwork.
The bazaar still matters
Modern chains are growing fast, yet a large share of food and household goods is still sold in bazaars and corner shops. Their prices and volumes are not published anywhere, so they have to be counted on site.
How a project runs
- Brief call: we agree on the business decision the study must support
- Written proposal with method, sample, timeline and a fixed price
- Questionnaire and discussion guide, translated and tested locally
- Fieldwork with daily quality checks and progress updates
- Report in English and a debrief call with your team
Most projects take three to eight weeks from brief to report.
Questions we hear most
How much does market research in Uzbekistan cost?
Projects start at $4,100. The price depends on the method, the sample size and how many regions we cover. A desk study with expert interviews sits near the minimum; a nationwide consumer survey costs more. You get a fixed quote in writing before any work begins.
How long does a study take?
Usually three to eight weeks from brief to final report. A mystery shopping wave in Tashkent can be done in about three weeks. A nationwide survey with fieldwork in every region takes closer to eight, mostly because of travel and quality control.
Can we work with you entirely in English?
Yes. Calls, proposals, reports and debriefs are in English. Interviews with respondents are held in Uzbek or Russian, whichever they are more comfortable with, and we deliver English transcripts so nothing gets lost in translation.
Do you cover regions outside Tashkent?
Yes, we run fieldwork in all regions of Uzbekistan, including Samarkand, Bukhara, the Fergana Valley and Karakalpakstan. Regional coverage is planned around official statistics so that the sample reflects the population or the customer group you care about.
Can you act as a local fieldwork partner for our agency?
Yes. International research agencies use us for respondent recruitment, interviewing, focus groups and mystery shopping. We can work under your brand, follow your questionnaire and quality standards, and sign an NDA before the project starts.
Do we need a local company to commission research?
No. We contract directly with your company abroad and invoice as a registered Uzbek entity. Many clients commission a study before they open an office, precisely to decide whether opening one makes sense.
